  1.  According to IHS,In 2015, there were about 15.4 billion connected devices, this number will grow to 30.7 billion in 2020, and 75.4 billion by 2025 but Intel forecasts 200 billion connected devices by 2020.
  2. According to enterprise executives, the U.S. leads in deploying IoT in operations at full scale (44%) followed by the United Kingdom (41%) and Germany (35%). 
  3. Sparklabs predicts an exponential increase in B2B IoT devices —from 2.5 billion connections in 2017 to 5.4 billion devices in 2020.
  4. There have been major company acquisitions in this space. For example. Google acquired Nest Labs, a thermostat maker for $3.2 billion. Samsung, on the other hand, bought SmartThings, a connected home company, for 200 million.
  5. Wearable devices - From 28.3 million units sold in 2016, IDC forecasts an increase to 82.5 million units in 2020, a 31 percent growth.
  6. Environmental monitoring, smart metering, renewable plants supervision and inventory intelligence are among the top areas IoT can deliver the most value for in 2018.
  7. In 2016, global spending on the IoT across markets was $737 billion. IDC predicts that by 2020, this number will reach $1.29 trillion, a compound annual growth rate of 15.6 percent.
